Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies

I've spent years practicing on chocolate chip cookies! I've discovered that cooking larger sized cookies at a lower temperature for a longer time period produces the best big, chewy "bakery" type cookie my family likes.

¾ cup butter (unsalted)
½ cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
2 cups milk chocolate chips

Combine butter, sugars, egg and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients; add and mix well. Add chocolate chips. Roll into 18 balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 325° for 15-17 minutes. Cool for 3 minutes on cookie sheets and then transfer to wire rack to finish cooling.
