It's all about fun 7 Years, 6 Months ago
My preschooler this year is little David, who is 3. It's funny... when Nathan (now 5.5) was this age, he was already asking to "do school" -- and he meant it. David wants to do school for about 30 seconds, then he wants to do something else. So I guess this will NOT be a year of working in a serious way with David. That's okay, because working with him in a NON-serious way is working just fine. He knows his numbers and surprised me yesterday by reading the time on a digital clock. He's picking up his letters as he goes along. I'll try again this time next year and see if he is ready to do anything more structured.

This year I'll just keep throwing games and puzzles his way and reading, reading, reading to him every chance I get!

My Preschooler, Parker (3) just loves puzzles. His favorite thing to do (in the house, that is!) is listening to Mom read and put together any kind of puzzle! He's really enjoying the floor map of the good old USA. He doesn't even know it's schoolwork!

The best learning for the little guys is to not think they are learning.

Giving them colored buckets with colored bears to sort with. Do they always get it matched up? Depends on their age but...it's fun. While doing it you can count them.

What about felt boards? We loved ours when ds#1 was that age. I just got a flyer today from a company to order CHEAP felt shapes. It's Library & Educational Services. I honestly don't remember how I requested the catalog but.... their website for ordering is www.libraryanded.com and you probably can get a catalog ordered from there.

Ds#1 loved the magnet letters for spelling on the refrigerator & dishwasher.

Oh...the things that we couldn't come up with at this age that flow soooo easily now.
