Welcome! 7 Years, 6 Months ago
It is summer in Texas and that means hot, hot, hot! Perfect time to clean house, get organized for the new year, set up schedules, make lesson plans....

We will be starting school a little late this year because of participation in so many summer conferences. When everyone else goes back to school and the bookfairs are over for the year, I'll get down to business with my lesson plans.

What is everyone else doing?

Organizing 7 Years, 6 Months ago
I just bought an extra calendar at the dollar store and used it for my menus. I got tired of trying to find and print out cutiesy forme for menus and just set up the calendar.

If I put just the main meal on the calendar, we are all focused. My dh who works at home knows he will be fed and everyone knows that if I'm too busy with work (I work at home also) that they need to start dinner.

My teens are now having home ec classes each day as they learn how to make some of the regular items on the menu. Simple answer to something that has been driving me up the wall for months.

Flylady.com has been getting me organized this year. She is funny and encouraging. I'm loving it. I found out about her because she is in the resource list in the Smoothie curriculum.

Some of the bast advice I ever got in the "keeping up with the housework" department was to keep the laundry caught up and don't get behind on the dishes. If you keep up with these two things you can function normally. The rest can get done in between the rest of your living.

I'm so glad you brought up Flylady. She helped me get rid of all my "To Do" lists, cards, folders...etc. She encourages us to do Crock Pot Dinners, have Offices in a Bag, and do smaller routines each day as opposed to Spring Cleaning the kitchen one day and being too wiped out to keep it up. One of my most favorite tips from her is to clean and dry your kitchen sink really well... keep a tub for dirty dishes under the cabinet. Then when you do dishes just pull out the tub, wash and dry the dishes and sink and return the tub! That's how I keep my sink clean and dry. (Nobody knows the few dishes are there just not THERE. Hee hee. She's great and FREE. Flylady.net
